* The Big Bear Nest Diaries: The morning unfolds, and we eagerly await “pip watch” which starts March 31st. Shadow arrived for his first day shift at 6:12 with Jackie on the Cactus Snag 🌲. They kept their bond close as they were seen mating 🥰 on the Lookout Snag at 7:34. The day goes by peacefully as Jackie and Shadow tend to their eggs. At 14:18 Shadow came to the nest with a smudge on his head, matching Jackie’s smudge. At 18:57 Jackie went to the nest and Shadow spent a bit of time on the CS. He later flies off, while Jackie continues to incubate the eggs. 🌙 Roost Snug Jackie & Shadow, we love you! ♥️
* Quiet Moments: Jackie and Shadow continue their steady dedication, carefully incubating as the day unfolds. The winds 🌬️ may whisper through the branches, but their focus never wavers. At 16:47 Jackie gently rises , taking a moment to roll the eggs 🪺 with care and spreading the fresh, soft fluff that she brought in. Every movement is thoughtful, a reflection of her instinct and devotion as a mother. We see the heart 💕 of their journey, and a promise of a new life. 🥹🪶
* Daily Fun Fact: EAGLETS BIOLOGY: The process of a chick 🐣 developing inside the egg is a 35+ day miracle. Within the first 48 to 72 hours, the ♥️ heart begins to beat. A complex network of blood vessels spread across the yolk to absorb nutrients and transport oxygen. Days 4-14 the head, spine, and internal organs begin to take shape. By day 10, tiny “buds” appear that will become wings 🪽 and legs. Days 15-28 the skeleton begins to ossify (harden into bone).Chicks actually absorb calcium from the egg shell to build its bones, making the shell thinner and easier to break later. Soft “natal down” feathers begin to grow, covering the chick's skin. Days 29-33 the chicks grow rapidly, filling almost the entire space inside the shell. 🐣🪶
