Highlights

Highlights from the FOBBV YouTube Team: ⬇️3/31 * The Big Bear Nest Diaries:The anticipated day has finally arrived! “Pip Watch” is officially here, Eagle Family. 🥳. Of course this doesn’t guarantee that pip will happen today, we will have to watch and see. This morning, Shadow was spotted on the Lookout Snag. At 7:30 he came to the nest with a nice fish, and Jackie came to claim it 😁. Thank you, Shadow! Jackie brought some fluff to the nest at 12:47, she sweetly asked Shadow to get up with a few beaky kisses. 😘 She has also been spreading and adjusting the fluff most of the day. It has been a bit windy today as well, but not to fear this nest and the nest tree is healthy. We also got a bit of rain ☔ at night starting around 18:19, fortunately Jackie & Shadow have waterproof feathers. Most times when there is rain or snow Jackie stays in the nest. Jackie continues to tend to the eggs.🌙 Roost Snug Jackie & Shadow, we love you! ♥️ * Quiet Moments: Today begins the new chapter, with full of hope , we look on and wish for the very best, trusting that all their dedication and hard work will soon be rewarded with first signs of new life. Despite the steady winds 🌬️, nothing seems to shake Jackie and Shadow’s focus, they continue to protect and incubate their precious eggs. 🪺 * Daily Fun Fact: “Pip” Before you see a single crack on the outside of the egg, something amazing happens inside 💗. Pip is short for pipping which is the first hole made in the egg as part of the hatching process. The chick uses their egg tooth to get through the egg’s inner membrane first, this is called the internal pip. This is the first time the eaglet’s lungs actually take a breath of air. Next the chick uses that same egg tooth to create a hole in the egg shell, this hole slowly gets bigger and bigger. It can take 24 to 48 hours after a pip for a chick to fully hatch. 🐣 Within a few weeks of hatching, this “tooth” simply falls off or is absorbed. 🪶 * Daddy Duties: Shadow had 2 nest 🪺 visits, 9 incubation sessions, 8 egg rolls. Total nest time for Shadow was 4 hours, 40 min. Bringing 1 fish to his Queen Jackie. 🐟 📊 Today’s Tallies: 💠Egg Rolls: 23 💠Jackie (J): 19 hours, 1 min in nest, 1 fluff 💠Shadow (S): 4 hours, 40 min in nest, 1 fish *only a few events-of-interest are listed
