Highlights

Highlights from the FOBBV YouTube Team: ⬇️ 4/19 * The Big Bear Nest Diaries: Shadow flew in at 6:51 to take his first shift of the day while Jackie was observed chasing two 🐦‍⬛ ravens. A raven was observed flying by at 11:33 when Shadow flew back, landing on the Back Porch of the nest. By then the chicks had already had a few good feedings, and were in food comas under Jackie. One chick 🐥 decided to seek out a cooler part of the nest at 13:55, but soon went back to the nest 🪹 bowl. The chicks were both fast asleep 🛌 under Jackie when Shadow escorted a raven out of the territory at 19:40. 🌙 Roost Snug Jackie & Shadow and chicks, we love you! ♥️ * Quiet Moments: At 12:33 a quiet moment on the nest unfolded as Shadow leaned in to give soft beaky kisses 😘 to one of the chicks. Later at 16:29 Jackie shared her own tender moment too, a quiet gesture of care and connection, reminding us how both parents show their love 💕 in the smallest, sweetest way. Late evening, the sweetness continues as the two chicks share 😗 beaky kisses of their own, echoing the love shown by their parents. 🦅🦅 * Daily Fun Fact: "Thermal Ninjas" 🥷 If you are watching the nest cam and notice a fuzzy eaglet wandering away from the cozy center, don't panic! 😁 It might look like they’re “leaving home” too early, but they are actually just being smart little survivalists. It's perfectly normal. Eaglets grow incredibly fast, but they are learning to regulate their body 🌡️ temperature. They may shimmy over to the edge of the nest where the branch structure is cooler. They’re Natural Explorers by the time they are a few weeks old, eaglets are naturally curious. Exploring the “suburbs” of the nest (the outer sticks) helps them develop. As long as the eaglet is within the structure of the nest 🪹, they are safe, shaded, and right where they need to be to grow into a majestic raptor. 🦅🪶 * Daddy Duties: Shadow had 10 nest 🪺 visits, 6 brooding sessions. Total nest time for Shadow was 4 hours, 30 min. Bringing 4 fish to His Chicks and Queen Jackie. 🐟 * Munchies and Mutes: Jackie and Shadow served 10 feedings. Full crops were observed on both chicks. 34+ PS🐥(Poop Shots) were sliced, 0 were right on 🎯!! 📊 Today’s Tallies: 💠Jackie (J): 19 hours, 33 min in nest, 1 fish 💠Shadow (S): 4 hours, 30 min in nest, 1 fluff, 4 fish *only a few events-of-interest are listed
