* The Big Bear Nest Diaries: Jackie spent a good part of last night ✨out on the front porch, with only a few wing-slaps + backtalk when Fiona 🐿️ was also observed. Coyotes were also heard howling! The day started with Jackie taking her leave at 5:31. The chicks were left in charge a couple hours until Shadow came with a fish 🐟 at 7:36. At 14:16 there were a few beaky kisses after Luna nibbled on Sandy’s feathers. 🪶 Tonight Sandy and Luna spent their time home alone doing nestiorations, snoozing, and just being adorable. 😍 Shadow spent his time on the Simba Tree and Twin Pines keeping a close watch until Jackie came back.🌙 Roost Snug Jackie & Shadow, Luna and Sandy, we love you! ♥️
* Quiet Moments: Today at 17:44, a sweet and peaceful moment unfolded on the nest as Luna drifted off to sleep while standing up. Not long ago, Luna was a tiny eaglet needing constant care, and now rests with the confidence and balance of a growing young eagle. Each day brings a new reminder of how quickly these precious chicks are growing. Watching Luna sleep standing tall is both heartwarming and bittersweet, a small glimpse of the strong eagle Luna is becoming. ♥️
* Daily Fun Fact: “CHICKS TRACKING”: When an eaglet is sitting in the nest, the entire world around them acts like a giant, high-definition 📺 television. Because they are confined to a few square feet of sticks for the first two months of life, visual tracking from the nest is their primary source of entertainment, brain development, and survival training. Eaglets spend hours tracking bugs 🪰 across the nest logs. This isn't just a game; it is vital coordination practice, helping them map out the exact distance between their beak and a moving target. Eaglets track the environment with more than just their 👀 eyes—they track it with their feathers 🪶. From the nest, they intensely monitor how the wind moves the surrounding tree branches. When they see the upper canopy branches start to sway, eaglets will track the incoming gust and prepare themselves. They will run to the windy side of the nest, face directly into the breeze 🌬️, and use that visual cue to time their big "trampoline hops," using the wind tracking to catch maximum air. 🪶
* Daddy Duties: Shadow had 6 nest 🪺 visits. Total nest time for Shadow was 1 hour, 7 min. Bringing 4 fish to His Chicks and Queen Jackie. 🐟
* Munchies and Mutes: Jackie and Shadow served 5 feedings. Luna and Sandy partook in 😋 self-feeding . Full crops were observed on both chicks. 34+ PS🐥(Poop Shots) were sliced, 3 were right on 🎯!!
