* The Big Bear Nest Diaries: 🎉Today is the last day of chat and highlights for the season. We, the YouTube team, have come together to post pictures of our favorite memories for this last highlight, enjoy! 😀 The YouTube team will be continuing the recaps, FOBBV’s other socials will remain open, and the live cams will continue too. We appreciate all of you. Thank you so much for all the kind words and support. 🥰 Chat may open if there is special news or updates.
* This morning was pretty calm with a couple small bird visitors such as Mountain Chickadee at 6:10 and Steller’s Jay at 10:52. In the afternoon we spotted Shadow in the Twin Pines at 12:37. Later we saw a BAEA go to the Lookout Snag. A Sub-adult was seen on the Twin Pines too at 14:11. During our chat party Shadow decided to join in perching on the Twin Pines at 18:43. Soon he was joined by two Sub-adults around 19:50. They appear to be roosting there for tonight. 🌙Roost Snug Jackie & Shadow, Luna and Sandy, we love you! ♥️
* Quiet Moments: The warmth of the eagle 🦅 community transformed a simple nest into a global 🌎 sanctuary of connection. Watching, hoping, and caring together 💗 created an unbreakable bond that reached far beyond Big Bear Lake. In every shared moment of joy and heartbreak, we found a compassionate village that reminded us just how deeply nature can bring us together. ❣️
* Daily Fun Fact: “NESTORATIONS”: Weeks before any eggs 🪺 arrive, Jackie and Shadow spend more time roosting side-by-side in their favorite 🌵 perches around Big Bear Lake. They engage in beak-touching, and subtle body 💕 language that signals they are officially ready to co-parent another season. As their internal clocks align for the season, mating shifts into high gear ⚙️ near or on the nest 🌲 tree. These brief, frequent encounters – often accompanied by 🎶 high-pitched trills – signal to the community that 🐣 egg-laying is just around the corner. As egg-laying approaches, the pair shifts from heavy construction to interior cozying. They bring in soft pine needles and – most famously – fresh fluff 🍃and fur to line the center bowl, creating an insulated pocket for sub-zero mountain nights. 🫶🪶
