A sweet moment was captured when Jackie feeds her little one at 6:55. 🎂At 8:30 Chick 2 hatches! 🐥 It is official we now have two chicks on the nest. Chick 2 has rested the day away after such a fast hatch. Both chicks continue to strengthen their neck muscles while Jackie & Shadow provide them food. The chicks absorb the yoke sack before fully hatching 🐣, to hold them over during the first few days. At 18:02 Shadow brings a Grebe and Jackie goes to work defeathering it. Shadow feeds leftover fish to Chick 1 before heading out. 🌙 Roost Snug Jackie & Shadow, we love you! ♥️ * Quiet Moments: A double celebration fills the air. 🪺✨.With the arrival of a second chick, our hearts are full and overflowing with joy. All the patience, dedication, and love from Jackie and Shadow have truly paid off and in this gentle moment, happiness surrounds us all. 🐣 💕 * Daily Fun Fact: INSECTS: 🪲 As the weather starts to warm up and Jackie and Shadow start making a pantry you may also see ants 🐜 and other insects on the nest. The insects can be a small part of the clean up crew by cleaning up dead organic material such as old fish. Predatory insects may also help keep harmful pests away. 🪶 * Daddy Duties: Shadow had 5 nest 🪺 visits, 19 brooding sessions. Total nest time for Shadow was 4 hours, 26 min.
