* The Big Bear Nest Diaries: The morning 🌄started with vocals 🎶 from Jackie and Shadow. At 6:11, the first feeding of the day started and both chicks got a bite from Jackie. Shadow flew in to relieve Jackie at 6:18 and fed both 🐥 chicks too. A White-breasted Nuthatch visited at 11:29 while Shadow watched and Jackie was taking a break on the Lookout Snag. Full crops were observed during the 19:05 feeding, both chicks acted full. Jackie also ate a bit of fish 🐟 around 19:23 before brooding chicks once more. 🌙Roost Snug Jackie & Shadow and chicks, we love you! ♥️
* Quiet Moments: Another smooth and peaceful day for Jackie 🦅 and Shadow 🦅over the nest 🪹. At 16:17, a beautiful tandem feeding unfolded both parents side by side, each tending to a chick 🐥 with such attentiveness. In a tender moment, they even shared an early bite together, a small but meaningful glimpse of family unity. The chicks are nourished, the bond is strong, and the love on the nest is undeniable 💕.
* Daily Fun Fact: “BIG BEAR LAKE 🎣FISH” Every year, the Department of Fish and Wildlife and local Water 💧 District dump roughly 1 million Rainbow Trout into the lake. This massive “home delivery” of fish is a huge reason why eagles like Jackie and Shadow can thrive there year-round. The lake is full of Common Carp 🐟, eagles 🦅love them because they often swim in shallow, warmer water near the edge of the lake 🌊, making them easy targets for an eagle’s talons. It's also full of Largemouth & Smallmouth Bass, Channel & Blue Catfish, Black Crappie, Bluegill & pumpkinseed, Crayfish, Golden Shiners & Minnows (smaller baitfish that keep the rest of the ecosystem fed) 🪶
* Daddy Duties: Shadow had 6 nest 🪺 visits, 13 brooding sessions. Total nest time for Shadow was 5 hours, 30 min. Bringing 4 fish to His Chicks and Queen Jackie. 🐟
* Munchies and Mutes: Jackie and Shadow served 15 feedings. Full crops were observed on both chicks. 9 PS🐥(Poop Shots) were sliced, 2 were right on 🎯!!
