Highlights from the FOBBV YouTube Team: ⬇️ 6/12 * The Big Bear Nest Diaries: Luna and Sandy self-fed on the first fish 🐟 for a bit before Jackie started giving them bites at 7:12. The chicks 🐥 spent most of the morning taking charge of the nest with lots of wingers, high jumps and watching the views. At 9:59 Sandy does a rear end rub. Jackie 🦅 gives us a nice close up as she sits on the back porch at 10:41, while the chicks keep moving in the background. During chat at 18:00 Shadow delivers a fish and feeds it to the chicks. 🌙 Roost Snug Jackie & Shadow, Luna and Sandy, we love you! ♥️ * Quiet Moments: This morning brought a sweet family moment. Jackie and Shadow spent time together on Sima tree, perched side by side, even sharing a few beaky kisses 💋. Back at the nest 🪹, Sandy and Luna stood at the edge, watching their parents from a distance. Though Jackie and Shadow weren’t in the nest, their watchful eyes 👀 remained on their growing chicks. A gentle reminder that love 💗 and protection can come from near or far. ♥️🦅 * Daily Fun Fact: “RER” is short for “Rear end Rub”. Eagles 🦅 have a “preening gland” (uropygial gland) located at the base of their tail. This gland produces a special oil. By rubbing or “wiggling” 😁 their rear, they help stimulate the gland or spread that oil onto their feathers 🪶to keep them waterproof and healthy. Just like any other animal, they sometimes simply have an itch or a bit of sap in their feathers that they need to rub off. 🪶 * Daddy Duties: Shadow had 5 nest 🪺 visits. Total nest time for Shadow was 2 hours, 22 mins. Bringing 4 fish to His Chicks and Queen Jackie. 🐟 * Munchies and Mutes: Jackie and Shadow served 3 feedings. Luna and Sandy partook in 😋 self-feeding . Full crops were observed on both chicks. 37+ PS🐥(Poop Shots) were sliced, 0 were right on 🎯!! 📊 Today’s Tallies: 💠Jackie (J): 1 hr, 17 mins in nest, 1 fish 💠Shadow (S): 2 hrs, 22 mins in nest, 1 stick, 4 fish 💠Chicks (C): Chicks were in charge for 19 hrs, 2 mins and were left in charge after dark!
