* The Big Bear Nest Diaries: Breakfast at 9:31 was self-serve, Sandy claimed fish first. Ninja 🥷 like Luna grabbed the tail portion while Sandy was self-feeding. The fish went from one chick to the other for a bit before Jackie started feeding them. 😁 At 10:40 Jackie visited Shadow on the Simba Tree 🌲. Around 11:02 both chicks were pretty sleepy near the back porch. They also took a nap 😴 at 15:47 while Jackie was on the front porch. Shadow did a 5th fish delivery giving Luna and Sandy each their own fish to eat, they self-fed for a while. After Luna did a wing 🪽 stretch at 18:20 Luna and Sandy turned into a cute chick puddle. 🌙 Roost Snug Jackie & Shadow, Luna and Sandy, we love you! ♥️
* Quiet Moments: Today felt like a beautiful full-circle moment as we celebrated Sandy Steers life. Jackie and Shadow perched side by side on the Simba Tree, quietly watching over their family. Back on the nest, Sandy and Luna mirrored their parents, standing together just as peacefully. For a few precious moments, the family seemed perfectly connected, parents on the Simba Tree, youngsters on the nesta gentle reminders of the love, guidance, and bonds that continue to grow long after those first days in the nest. ♥️
* Daily Fun Fact: “CAMERA” 🎥 Our Camera is an Axis PTZ system, 100% solar powered. Friends of Big Bear 🐻 Valley installed a solar-powered webcam in 2015 to monitor the nest. Our cameras are run by our Camops, who work hard every day, we really appreciate all the work they do! The camera has a dome which covers the lens, this helps keep the lens clean and protected. Sometimes the dome may get messy, fortunately rain can clean that up. The camera also has a pole that we sometimes see the chicks nibble and rub their beaks on. 🪶
* Daddy Duties: Shadow had 4 nest 🪺 visits. Total nest time for Shadow was 2 hours, 48 mins. Bringing 4 fish to His Chicks and Queen Jackie. 🐟
* Munchies and Mutes: Jackie and Shadow served 5 feedings. Luna and Sandy partook in 😋 self-feeding . Full crops were observed on both chicks. 33+ PS🐥(Poop Shots) were sliced, 0 were right on 🎯!!
