Highlights

Highlights from the FOBBV YouTube Team: ⬇️ 6/21 * The Big Bear Nest Diaries: 🦅 Happy Father’s Day Shadow! 🎉 Jackie and Shadow spent some time together on the Lookout Snag 🌲 at 5:36. Meanwhile, on the nest Luna and Sandy were doing plenty of 🪽 winger-cizing! Sandy casted a pellet at 5:59. As the day went on and got a little warmer ☀️ Luna sported a perfect horaltic pose at 7:38. Sandy moved to the Front Porch at 11:15. At 15:33 Sandy also spent some time on the Front Porch with Shadow, so cute! 🥰 Sandy does wingers at 19:07 on the Front Porch too. Jackie vocalizes 🎶, as does Shadow before he flew off the Twin Pines. 🌙 Roost Snug Jackie & Shadow, Luna and Sandy, we love you! ♥️ * Quiet Moments: Today, Sandy took a step onto the Front Porch, while Luna perched on the Back Porch. Both chicks gaze out across the beautiful Big Bear Valley, each with a different perspective of the world beyond the nest 🪹. Between moments of preening, and perching they keep their eyes 👀 on the beautiful views around them as they prepare for the exciting adventures. ♥️ * Daily Fun Fact: BEAK: An Eagles beak is made of Keratin. The same rough fibrous protein made from human fingernails and hair. This keratin sheath called the Rhamphotheca grows over a core of living bone. An Eagles beak can get dry, but they have natural ways to manage it, natural oils while preening eagles often rub their beaks against the gland at the base of their tail. Feaking, when an eagle rubs its beak against a rock or branch. It essentially fills away the dried outer layer of keratin and keeps the beak smooth, sharp, and healthy. Because they are made of Keratin, eagle beaks grow throughout their life, as the outer layer gets dry and brittle or worn down from use, new layers grow from underneath. 🪶 * Daddy Duties: Shadow had 1 nest 🪺 visits. Total nest time for Shadow was 2 hours, 43 min. Bringing 1 fish to His Chicks and Queen Jackie. 🐟 * Munchies and Mutes: Jackie and Shadow served 0 feedings. Luna and Sandy partook in 😋 self-feeding . Full crops were observed on both chicks. 29+ PS🐥(Poop Shots) were sliced, 0 were on 🎯!! 📊 Today’s Tallies: 💠Jackie (J): 33 min in nest, 1 fish 💠Shadow (S): 2 hours, 43 min in nest, 1 fish 💠Chicks (C): Chicks were in charge for 20 hours, 43 min and were left in charge after dark! *only a few events-of-interest are listed
