Both chicks self-fed. After a second fish delivery Shadow 🦅 spent time on the Simba Tree, and then later at 9:24 on the Twin Pines. 🥳At 15:42, Luna branches to the Front Porch for the first time, good job Luna! 🎉Tonight Jackie showed everyone her hunting skills, bringing three fish in a row starting at 17:49. Coyotes howled as the sun began to set at 19:55. 🌙 Roost Snug Jackie & Shadow, Luna and Sandy, we love you! ♥️ * Quiet Moments: After Luna joined Sandy 🐥 on the Front Porch this afternoon, the pair perched side-by-side for over an hour, taking in the wide world around them from a new perspective. The time spent was bittersweet – full of bravery, for them both to perch so high above the ground with no nest below, and also of the reality that soon they will be perched on other branches away from the nest 🪹 entirely, exploring the world on their very own. 💗 * Daily Fun Fact: TRACKING: 👀 Eagles 🦅 constantly track their surroundings with their eyes 👀 and head movement for both survival and hunting efficiency. From a high perch, an Eagle can survey its entire domain. Constant scanning helps detect the slightest movement of potential prey from miles away, while keeping watch for potential threats or unwanted visitors. By using both head movement and dual focal points in their eyes, eagles achieve a nearly 340-degree field of view. This allows them to monitor a vast area without moving their body. 🪶 * Daddy Duties: Shadow had 3 nest 🪺 visits. Total nest time for Shadow was 0 hours, 29 min. Bringing 3 fish to His Chicks and Queen Jackie. 🐟 * Munchies and Mutes: Jackie and Shadow served 2 feedings. Luna and Sandy partook in 😋 self-feeding .
