* The Big Bear Nest Diaries: The morning 🌅 was quiet and Luna and Sandy had the nest to themselves! 7:46 Luna casted a pellet. Both chicks spent time on the front porch, figuring out how to jump into the nest past their sibling, doing lots of wingers-cizing and some adorable beaky kisses! 😘 Some fish shenanigans happen starting at 15:15. Sandy attempted a couple times to swallow the fish whole, though she did not succeed, and then Luna wins the fish head during a tug-o-fish. 😂 At 18:37 Jackie flew to the nest while Shadow was feeding the chicks, all four together. Shadow flew towards the Roost Tree 🌲 at 19:18, after Jackie flew 🦅 off the Cactus Snag. 🌙 Roost Snug Jackie & Shadow, Luna and Sandy, we love you! ♥️
* Quiet Moments: This evening brought one of those special moments we know won't last forever. Jackie, Shadow, Sandy, and Luna were all together in the nest, sharing dinner as a family after Jackie and Shadow delivered an impressive 8 fish today. As the sun began to set over Big Bear Valley, the nest was filled with the simple comfort of a family enjoying time together. With fledge watch approaching, these moments feel especially precious. Soon Sandy and Luna will be spreading their wings beyond the nest, making evenings like this a beautiful reminder to cherish every chance we have to see all four eagles together. ♥️
* Daily Fun Fact: “KLEPTO” 🥷Klepoparasitism: young Eagles 🦅 are “wired” to follow larger adults eagles, as this behavior originally ensured their survival with their parents. They may continue this behavior with any adult until they develop enough skills to hunt independently. Juveniles learn to hunt by trial & error, guided by instinct. During the first year they primarily scavenge & steal from others while developing flight skills needed to catch prey. 🪶
* Daddy Duties: Shadow had 7 nest 🪺 visits. Total nest time for Shadow was 1 hour, 16 min. Bringing 7 fish to His Chicks and Queen Jackie. 🐟
* Munchies and Mutes: Jackie and Shadow served 3 feedings. Luna and Sandy partook in 😋 self-feeding . Full crops were observed on both chicks. 29+ PS🐥(Poop Shots) were sliced, 0 were on 🎯!!
